James Wilson represents homeowners and business owners in first-party property insurance disputes and construction-related litigation.

James began his legal career as a public defender, where he developed his trial and advocacy skills in the courtroom. That experience required him to evaluate evidence quickly, prepare witnesses, develop case strategy, argue contested issues, and advocate for clients when the outcome mattered.

He brings that same trial-focused approach to representing policyholders and property owners today.

James handles first-party property insurance disputes involving coverage, causation, valuation, policy conditions, storm damage, water losses, roof claims, and other contested property matters. He also works on construction defect cases involving defective work, water intrusion, building-envelope issues, repair disputes, and claims involving contractors and other construction professionals.

His courtroom background shapes the way he approaches both insurance and construction cases: identify the issues that will ultimately matter, develop the evidence needed to prove them, and prepare the case with litigation in mind from the beginning.

James understands that many disputes are decided long before a trial ever occurs. A well-developed file, a clear factual record, and a willingness to litigate when necessary can affect how a case is evaluated at every stage. He works with the firm’s attorneys, engineers, contractors, and other professionals to build cases that are prepared for negotiation, mediation, appraisal where appropriate, or court.

How James Approaches a Case

Prepare with the courtroom in mind. Even when a case resolves without trial, the strongest position comes from developing the evidence as though it may eventually need to be presented to a judge or jury.
Focus on what can be proven. Coverage positions, construction defects, expert opinions, timelines, photographs, estimates, and testimony all have to stand up to scrutiny when a dispute becomes contested.
Advocate clearly and directly. James brings the same disciplined advocacy he developed as a public defender to disputes involving insurance companies, contractors, and other responsible parties.
