Shari Freeman

A Florida native who attended law school in Chicago, Shari began her legal career in insurance defense before moving into construction litigation. That experience gave her a firsthand understanding of how complex property disputes are investigated, defended, and litigated before she turned her practice toward representing policyholders.

Before focusing on first-party property insurance, Shari handled a broad range of construction matters, including construction defect claims, construction-related professional liability, disruption and delay claims, contract disputes, and negligence cases. Her work involved single- and multi-family properties, residential communities and resort properties, large infrastructure projects, and other commercial properties.

Her construction litigation experience includes serving as second chair in a two-week trial representing an architect on a major transportation project involving alleged damages exceeding $28 million, securing a favorable outcome for her client. She has also handled matters through litigation, arbitration, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

Today, Shari applies that background to first-party property insurance claims for homeowners and businesses. Her construction experience is particularly valuable in cases involving disputed causation, engineering opinions, roof and building-envelope damage, water intrusion, repair methodology, and disagreements over the scope and cost of restoring damaged property.

Shari also plays a central role in how the firm evaluates and develops new matters. As the firm’s chief operating officer, she oversees the intake and presuit departments, helping ensure that potential claims are identified early, the right documents and evidence are gathered, and cases are positioned appropriately before litigation becomes necessary.

She has also developed continuing education programming on property insurance law and claims practice and has appeared on industry podcasts and programs discussing property claims and related issues.
